For information on baptisms (christenings), weddings, Banns of Marriage, or funerals, please contact Doreen Harrison on 07711 561 200.
Please note that there is no parking at the Church. There are several car parks in and around Barnstaple town center, the nearest and largest being the Cattle Market. The Church is a short walk from there. Please note that parking charges apply 365 days a year from 8am to 6pm.
Baptisms
The Church is very willing to include a Baptism in its regular morning service at 10.30am.
When a baby is born, there is usually a wish to celebrate the new member of the family. In Baptism, we celebrate the arrival of a new member of God’s family, and we welcome those who want to seek God’s blessing on their child and themselves for the years ahead.
If your child is Primary School age or older, we will want to include them in talking through the promises and commitments that Baptism involves.
When adults come to faith in Christ, or discover that they were not baptised when young and want to be baptised, there is an opportunity to explore faith and celebrate membership of God’s worldwide family.
If you are interested, or want to know more, do contact the Vicar who will be delighted to meet and talk further.
Weddings
St Peter’s is an exciting and adaptable place for a wedding service. We have weddings ranging in size from small family gatherings to large events with a couple of hundred guests, and every sort of variation in between. We extend a warm welcome to those who want to celebrate their big day here in the presence of God.
There is a lot of helpful information about weddings, what the legal basis is, where and how you can get married, on the national Church of England website – you can find it at http://www.churchofengland.org/weddings-baptisms-funerals/weddings.aspx
Anyone with connections through their family to St Peter’s can choose to be married here. See the C of E wedding site above for further information about eligibility.
The main thing is to contact us if you are thinking of a wedding and we will be delighted to talk it over with you.
We also offer services to celebrate special wedding anniversaries – do contact us for details.
There are several hotels and venues within walking distance.
Funerals
The Church of St Peter and St Mary Magdalene can be used for a service of any size.
